Buyers
Cancel a subscription
What cancelling does to your licence, your tokens, and any installs in flight.
How to cancel
- Sign in to your Packagento account.
- Open My licences. Find the subscription package you no longer want to renew.
- Click the "Cancel subscription" action on that row. A confirmation prompt summarises what happens; choose OK to confirm.
- Auto-renewal is turned off. The row shows the end-of-period date and a "Resume" action appears next to it; you have until that date to change your mind.
Only members with the owner, admin, or billing role on the licence's organisation can cancel a subscription. If you do not see the cancel action on a licence you expect to manage, ask an owner or admin to grant you the billing role.
Resuming before the end date
Cancelled by mistake or changed your mind? Click "Resume" on the licence row before the end date. The subscription will continue to renew as normal. After the end date passes, the Resume button is no longer available and you would need to buy the package again.
What stays working until the end date
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, not straight away. Until then:
- The licence stays active.
- Project tokens that include this package keep working with Composer.
composer installandcomposer updatecontinue to fetch new tagged versions of the package. You keep full version access through the rest of the paid period; nothing is cut off early.
What happens after the end date
- The subscription ends. The licence stays in your account but moves to a read-only state.
- You keep access to every version released up to the end date. Versions tagged after that date are no longer available to your tokens.
- Code already installed on your servers keeps running. Packagento never touches your filesystem; you only lose the ability to fetch new versions.
- Composer's local cache on your machine is untouched.
Refunds
Cancelling does not refund the current period; the subscription runs out the time you paid for. If you want a refund as well, open a "Request refund" action on the same licence row within the eligibility window. Packagento reviews refunds centrally and emails you the outcome. Cancelling and requesting a refund are independent actions; doing both is fine.
A failed renewal is not a cancellation
If your card fails on a renewal, Stripe retries the charge several times over the following days. The licence stays active during that retry window and you receive an email asking you to update your card. Update the card and the next retry succeeds; the licence carries on without further action. Only if every retry fails does the subscription end, on the same terms as an explicit cancellation.
Resubscribing after period end
Buying the package again creates a fresh licence row and re-enables the entitlement on the project you activate it against. There is no penalty or cooldown.
